New appointment to Bayleys Hawke’s Bay team

A strategic appointment to the Bayleys Hawke’s Bay commercial and industrial team will help drive ongoing growth within the business, as the firm consolidates a strong market position in the region.

Established agent Matt Webb brings with him an extensive network and experience working with clients across the commercial property spectrum. He is also widely connected within the community and well-known around Hawke’s Bay from his pre-real estate role as Deputy Principal at Hereworth School in Havelock North, where his leadership and team player skills were proven.

Webb spent 18 years in various teaching and leadership positions within the education sector, working at King’s School in Auckland prior to his Hereworth role, and has been in real estate for seven years as a broker and manager.

Kerry Geange, director Bayleys Hawke’s Bay, says Webb’s appointment to the commercial leasing and sales team based in the firm’s Havelock North office is a targeted move to expand the already impressive reach and impact that Bayleys has within Hawke’s Bay.

“We identified Matt as being a good fit for our wider high-performing commercial and industrial team as we continue to forge ahead in the Hastings and Havelock North area, and to support our ongoing growth in Napier and into the Central Hawke’s Bay market.

“Matt is very well-known in the area and taps into a broad business and community network. He has established respect for being an effective, trusted, and experienced broker, and we’re delighted to have him on the Bayleys’ team.”

Webb said he was attracted to Bayleys - New Zealand’s largest full-service real estate company - as it has family foundations, originally began as a commercial real estate company, and has a more than 50-year track record around the country.

“As such, it has a highly developed infrastructure and level of resourcing that is commercially-oriented and effective.

“My experience in the education sector honed my ability to work with a wide range of individuals and groups, creating performance plans to achieve whatever success might look like, and those skills have readily transferred into commercial real estate.”

Geange says regional New Zealand is currently outperforming main urban centres on a number of economic metrics. He believes Hawke’s Bay’s star is on the rise with private and public infrastructure and development investment to the tune of more than $1 billion committed in the next 4-5 years, which will support growth in the commercial and industrial sector, including in business sales and the hotels, tourism and leisure markets.

“The region has shown its resilience post-Cyclone Gabrielle, with the primary sector performing well, and heartening forecast outlooks for horticulture, red meat, and dairy in commodity markets.

“Infrastructure projects related to the recovery are progressing, with a total of $657 million forecast to be invested in Hawke's Bay within the 2024-2027 National Land Transport Programme period, which will build greater resilience across the roading network to support economic growth and prosperity.

“Work on four-laning the Hawke’s Bay Expressway as part of the government’s Roads of National Significance project will more efficiently move traffic around the region and streamline connection to Napier Port, which will have a major positive benefit on the local economy.”
